“Leaning”
To create this artwork, Millo took the inspiration from nature. It might sound strange but in nature we can find models that can be replicated and from which we can let us be inspired to understand our reality better, enabling us to improving it.
That's the case with bees. They are organised and structured perfectly, and they can teach us how to be sustainable in our economic growth without forgetting to be productive and inclusive.
The hive is full of little lives, and the children are taking notes observing this natural reality.
Born in Pescara, Italy in 1979, Francesco Camillo Giorgino, aka Millo, is an Italian street artist whose mural works appear all over the world.
Millo’s murals pictures friendly giant inhabitants in the act of exploring their urban setting. Millo’s suspended universes are characterized by black and white landscapes saturated with details and hidden life. Illusionism and introspection are some of Millo’s art's main components. The spectator feels completely absorbed by the extension of fictional cities and gets lost in their streets leading to nowhere. The unknown chaos generated by the artist’s visionary mind leads us toward a central point in the paintings, where a familiar scene appears reassuring and comforting.
Painted in an elaborate illustrative technique, Millo’s works are like open doors into the human mind. Reflecting our most intimate emotions such as love, hope, strength, loneliness, and fear, the protagonists of Millo’s narratives are often a couple sharing a moment of tenderness, calling our attention to stop, reflect and take us back to the simplicity of basic human feelings.
In a calculated balance between maximalism and minimalism, Millo generates a visionary code which stands as completely unique both in the street art movement and the neo-surrealist art scene.
Millo has participated in numerous street art festivals and NGO art events worldwide. He has painted large murals in USA, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, French Polynesia, Australia, Thailand, New Zealand, China, India, Georgia, Palestine, Jordan, Cyprus, Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, Lithuania, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, now in Denmark and of course, his native Italy. His works have been exhibited in Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Seoul, Berlin, London, Amsterdam, Milan, Rome, Florence, and more.
In 2014, he won the B.Art competition, which earned him the task of painting 13 multi-story murals in the city of Turin.
"Sometimes seductively surreal, other times bordering on scary" – K. Brooks, Huffington Post.
